A. Wood pallets:

1. Life analysis expectations can be evaluated when the pallet loading, handling, and shipping environment is known.
2. Number of and “roughness ”of handlings in addition to pallet
being designed for a given unit load will determine probable
life
Warranty considerations
1. One free sample can be provided for on site evaluation and determination of suitability in a given
loading, storage, shipping and handling environment
2. Customer specific testing can be done, when the potential order size warrants the cost.
3. Certain plastic pallets have completed first article testing

Maintenance Availability
1. Plastic and steel pallets have no nails or boards and are not subject to maintenance
2. Wood pallets top and bottom deck boards can be replaced by a recycler
Environmental and energy efficiency considerations
A. Wood pallets:
1. Manufactured from renewable natural resource,
repairable, recyclable and reusable (4-R’s)
2. Wood pallet components are commercial grades of
lumber that have no value for furniture and absent
pallets may be ground into residues
3. Manufactured using thin kerf, energy efficient saws
4. End of life wood pallets can be ground into boiler fuel
and not contribute to landfills
B. Plastic and Steel pallets:
1. Longer life cycle than wood
2. Are recycled and used to make new plastic and steel pallets
3. Are void of any insect infestation that can destroy plant life
4. No deforestation issues Steel Is Fireproof
