Pallet Design System

(PDS)

Pallet Design System is a computer-aided design (CAD) program developed by Virginia Polytechnic Institute, the National Wooden Pallet & Container Association, and the U.S. Forest Service.  PDS service is available at no cost to our customers to ensure our pallets' structural integrity to safely handle our customers' maximum load under their handling, storing and loading environment while utilizing the minimum amount of lumber.

• PDS determines the safe load, carrying capacity, performance, and economy of wooden pallets
• PDS computer printout "results" provide a means of evaluating and selecting the most cost effective pallet design for a specific use
• PDS reduces cost

Customers will receive a detailed computer analysis for each pallet design featuring:

1. Personalized for your specific order
2. A detailed description of your pallet
3. Exact specifications for stringers or blocks
4. Exact specifications for top and bottom deckboards
5. Detailed description of the lumber species needed
6. Precise fastener specifications
